Job Responsibilities

Welcome to Dammfriskolan! Dammfriskolan is looking for a special education teacher for our adapted primary school.

You will be a class teacher for a class in grades 6–7 in subject areas and also teach in two classes in grades 7–9 in subject orientation. The students have intellectual disabilities and follow the curriculum for adapted primary school. The position includes planning, implementing, and evaluating teaching based on governing documents and the students' needs, in close collaboration with the work team. The work is characterized by clear pedagogy, differentiated instruction, and the use of visual support and AAC. As the coordinating special education teacher in the school's special education group, you will also be responsible for planning and organizing the group's work as well as collaborating with student health, school management, and guardians. You will conduct educational assessments, work with extra adaptations and special support, and document according to current guidelines.

Qualifications

We are looking for someone who is a licensed teacher with a special education degree, preferably with a focus on intellectual disabilities. You have experience working in adapted primary schools and teaching in both subjects and subject areas. It is an advantage if you have previously worked as a special education teacher. You have good knowledge of students' various needs and how to create accessible learning environments, including experience with NPF, low-arousal responses, and communication support. You are accustomed to working with visual aids, visual strategies, and alternative learning tools, as well as TAKK and digital tools such as Widget Go and Inprint. Experience meeting students with epilepsy is desirable. You have a good understanding of the school's governing documents and actively use them in your work.

We are looking for a person with good didactic skills, good digital competence, and the ability to creatively adapt teaching based on students' needs. You build good relationships with students, guardians, and colleagues, are calm, attentive, and structured, and can work independently as well as collaborate in a team. Flexibility and adaptability are important as students' needs may vary. You have a good command of Swedish in both spoken and written form and have a positive view of students that permeates your work.
